Baseline process overview.
The guided baseline process centers on 12 expert advice sessions alternating between guidance sessions, where new topics and tools are introduced and review sessions where our experts review participants “homework” between sessions.
Between sessions participants use what they have learned to gather data, discuss with colleagues and practice the tools provided. In this way we deliver high quality expertise in biodiversity reporting and management with a minimum cost as most groundwork is done by clients. After the process, the participant(s) are able to maintain the data and structure of the baseline for years to come.
The cost of the guided process includes a full year membership for 1 person of our excellence networks, where we share updates on reporting requirements, new available data and other tools and facilitate peer learning.

Who is it for?
Our guided baseline process is for companies that need to understand their impact and dependency on nature and biodiversity, either from a wish to manage business critical risks or to be in compliance with reporting requirements.
It is targeted to companies that wish to do this without spending a fortune on consultants but would rather build capacity with staff to update and expand your biodiversity baseline.
The process will deliver the basis of data and insights for developing risk analysis, strategic plans actions and targets. The process also engages resources across your organization and raises awareness of your company’s biodiversity exposure as well as the ability to respond.
We encourage clients in the guided baseline process to sign up for our Excellence Networks. The networks keep members updated on developments on compliance requirements, access to data and other resources and the chance to share best practice insights.
What will you gain from the process?
- Data and insights to manage and report on your business’ exposure to biodiversity and nature in compliance with leading reporting frameworks (ESRS, TNFD, Science based Targets for Nature)
- 12 1-on-1 expert advice and feedback sessions leading you through the process step by step
- Access to premade tools and resources saving your employees hundreds of work hours
- Curated reading list of background material to save time and focus on essentials
- Up to 5 employees can participate – and share tasks – to ensure new skills stay with the organization
How does it work?
Expert sessions are done online via Teams (or other platform if needed). After each session, participants will receive a follow up mail with minutes from the meeting and a task list for the homework. At the same time, introduced tools are shared in the Teams room.
Timing is flexible, but we suggest that the process is done in 12 weeks or as close to that as possible to keep momentum, while still having time to develop skills and embed learnings in the organization.
You should expect that the process will take up approximately half a full time equivalent (FTE) for the 12 weeks of the program. Some, but not all, of the homework between expert advice sessions can be distributed between participants.
